Job summary

Airwallex is seeking a Growth-focused backend engineer to design and build scalable, high-availability services in a fast-paced fintech environment. You will partner with data scientists, product, design, and marketing to power user acquisition and global expansion, ensuring secure, reliable systems that enable rapid experimentation.

You will own engineering excellence, contribute to architectural decisions, and drive impactful improvements across the growth platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or above in computer science or engineering related majors.
• 7+ years of experience in modern engineering practices focused on CI and quality engineering.
• Strong CS fundamentals, solid OOP concepts.
• Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven architectures.
• Deep experience with high-throughput, low-latency, highly available distributed systems.
• Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront) with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable systems with Java/Kotlin or similar languages for high-traffic, high-availability services.
• Enable data-driven decisions by designing data pipelines and analytics platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into backend solutions.
• Experiment and iterate to support rapid A/B testing, feature toggles, and real-time monitoring.
• Promote security and compliance with secure coding practices and robust authentication/authorization.
