Job summary

HSBC Life (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Senior Specialist, Finance Operations to manage daily liquidity, perform interfund settlements, and record journal entries with precision.

You will drive bank reconciliations, monitor MAS regulatory requirements, coordinate banking mandates, and support external audits while delivering timely financial insights in a fast-paced insurance environment.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in a cash management / financial operations role, ideally within insurance.
• Strong understanding of core accounting concepts, including profit and loss (P&L), balances, and the chart of accounts (CoA).
• Strong ownership mindset and willingness to learn, with a focus on delivering outcomes.
• Strong analytical and technical capability, including the ability to explain movements and underlying drivers (not just report results).
• Knowledge of Microsoft application tools is required; Exposure to AI Agentic tools and end-to-end ERP system (e.g. Oracle or SAP) is an added advantage;
• Ability to work to fixed reporting deadlines with limited supervision and maintain clear documentation.

Responsibilities

• Daily cash management: monitor bank balances, prepare daily cash positions/forecasts, and act on surpluses/shortfalls.
• Execute liquidity movements: perform fund transfers between accounts/entities and ensure sufficient liquidity.
• Post accounting entries: record transfer-related journal entries accurately and on time.
• Deliver bank reconciliations: complete monthly bank reconciliations, investigate outstanding items, and ensure bank balances tie to the GL.
• Run interfund settlement: prepare the monthly interfund settlement schedule, investigate imbalances, and post settlement journals promptly.
• Support regulatory compliance: ensure interfund balances are settled within MAS regulatory requirements and support MAS Notice 101.
• Manage banking operational matters: coordinate banking mandate updates and act as primary contact for bank/KYC requests.
• Provide audit & change support: support external audits (bank balances/interfund), maintain Nostro accounts, and perform ad-hoc system/testing during changes.

In this role you will:

• Daily cash management : monitor bank balances across multiple bank accounts, prepare daily cash positions/forecasts, and act on surpluses/shortfalls.
• Execute liquidity movements : perform fund transfers between accounts/entities and ensure sufficient liquidity for policyholders, vendors, and business payments.
• Post accounting entries : record transfer-related journal entries accurately and on time in the accounting system.
• Deliver bank reconciliations : complete monthly bank recs, investigate/reconcile outstanding items, and ensure bank balances tie to the General Ledger (GL).
• Run interfund settlement : prepare the monthly interfund settlement schedule, investigate fund code imbalances, and post settlement journals promptly.
• Support regulatory compliance : ensure interfund balances are settled within MAS regulatory requirement and support compliance with MAS Notice 101.
• Manage banking operational matters : coordinate banking mandate updates and act as primary contact for bank/KYC requests.
