Job summary

TLC SPEECH CLINIC PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a dedicated Educational Support Tutor to assist a family with children, including one with special needs.

You will help with homework, coordinate with teachers, and promote safe, nurturing daily routines that support learning and development. Responsibilities include supervising routines, transporting to activities, coordinating with other staff, and providing emotional and social support in a culturally aware setting.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Special Education, Early Childhood or Psychology required.
• Experience as a tutor or in a similar role, preferably with children in international settings and special needs.
• Strong command of English and good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support, homework and school assignments.
• Manage and coordinate tutors in various subjects including English and Chinese; monitor progress with teachers.
• Supervise daily routines, transport to activities, and maintain structured daily schedule.
• Provide emotional, social and cultural support; foster a safe, nurturing home environment.
• Liaise with household staff for smooth running of the household and weekly parent updates.

Job description

The main responsibility of this role includes providing holistic educational support and assistance for all the children in a family including one with special needs. They are currently enrolled in both local and international schools. The Tutor will play a critical role in the children’s daily lives, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes their intellectual, social, and emotional development.

Job Scope

Educational Support

• Assist with homework and school assignments, ensuring adherence to local and international school curriculum standards.
• Manage tutors in various subjects as needed, particularly in English, Chinese, and other subjects and interest classes.
• Coordinate with school teachers to monitor academic progress and address any learning challenges.
• Facilitate educational activities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Childcare

• Supervise daily routines including meal times, recreational activities, and bedtime.
• Arrange and transport to extracurricular activities, appointments, and social engagements.
• Implement and maintain a structured daily schedule that balances learning, play, and rest.

Social, Cultural and Emotional Support

• Foster a positive and culturally aware environment, respecting the family’s values and traditions.
• Provide emotional support and guidance
• Encourage social interaction and cultural exploration.

Household Coordination

• Liaise with other household staff for smooth running of the household.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for the children.
• Keep parents regularly (weekly) updated on children’s progress and daily activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma in Special / Education, Early Childhood or Psychology
• Experience as a tutor or in a similar role, preferably with children in an international school setting, and special needs
• Have a strong command of English and have good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Working Hours

Monday to Friday

Morning: 7.30AM – 11.30 AM

Lunch Break: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Afternoon: 1.00 PM – 5:00 PM
