Job summary

VIAVI Solutions Singapore searches for an experienced Solution Engineer – Fiber Optics Production & Lab Test to support SEANZ growth. You will serve as a regional technical expert, engaging with R&D, NPI and manufacturing teams to design tests, demonstrate VIAVI solutions, and deploy them with customers across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Electronics, Communications, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Instrumentation or equivalent.
• 5+ years as an FAE, Solution Engineer, Applications Engineer or similar customer-facing role.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optics, optical communications and optical test & measurement.
• Experience with R&D, NPI and manufacturing customers.
• Deep understanding of optical measurements (OSA, IL/RL/PDL, optical power, coherent optics).
• Knowledge of 800G/1.6T, SiPh, CPO/XPO and optical I/O is a plus.
• Test automation and SCPI/Python is desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting, presentation and customer relationship skills.
• Ability to work independently and across multi-country regional org.
• Excellent English; other regional languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel extensively across SEANZ.

Responsibilities

• Develop and demonstrate complete VIAVI solutions across fiber-optic, components, transceivers and coherent testing.
• Lead customer demos, PoCs, evaluations, trials, training and deployment support.
• Support advanced technologies including 400G/800G/1.6T optics and related areas.
• Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities and develop technical value propositions.
• Enable and train channel partners and regional sales teams.
• Collaborate with TAC and Product Divisions to resolve issues and feed roadmap input.
• Identify emerging customer needs and new applications for growth.
• Support test automation and integration as required.

Summary

Position Summary VIAVI Solutions is looking for an experienced Solution Engineer – Fiber Optics Production & Lab Test to support the growth of our Fiber Optics business across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand (SEANZ). The role will serve as a regional technical expert and customer-facing solution expert, supporting customers across R&D, NPI and manufacturing. The candidate will work closely with Sales, Product Divisions, TAC and channel partners to understand customer requirements, develop solutions, lead technical evaluations and drive successful deployment of VIAVI optical test solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Act as the regional technical expert for VIAVI Fiber Optics test solutions.
• Engage with customer R&D, NPI and manufacturing teams to understand current and future optical test requirements.
• Develop and demonstrate complete VIAVI solutions covering fiber-optic, optical component, transceiver and coherent optical testing.
• Lead customer demos, PoCs, evaluations, trials, training and deployment support.
• Support advanced technologies including 400G/800G/1.6T optics, coherent optics, DWDM/Flex-Grid, WSS/ROADM, Silicon Photonics, CPO/XPO and optical switching.
• Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities, develop technical value propositions and support strategic opportunities.
• Enable and develop channel partners and regional Sales teams through technical training and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with TAC and Product Divisions to resolve complex technical issues and provide customer feedback for product roadmap and strategy.
• Identify emerging customer requirements, technology trends and new applications to drive future business growth.
• Support test automation and integration using SCPI, Python or equivalent technologies where required.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements

• Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's or master’s degree in Electronics, Communications, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Instrumentation or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience as an FAE, Solution Engineer, Applications Engineer or similar customer-facing technical role.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optics, optical communications and optical test & measurement.
• Experience with R&D, NPI and manufacturing customers.
• Strong understanding of optical measurements including OSA, IL/RL/PDL, optical power, fiber/component testing and coherent optics.
• Knowledge of emerging optical technologies such as 800G/1.6T, SiPh, CPO/XPO and optical I/O is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of test automation and SCPI/Python is desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting, presentation, communication and customer relationship skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across a multi-country regional organization.
• Excellent English communication skills; additional regional language capability is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel extensively across SEANZ.
