About the role
The Solutions Architect owns end-to-end architecture for enterprise-scale systems, spanning application, integration, data, infrastructure, network and security domains, plus any supporting hardware, edge devices, sensors and centralised monitoring platforms. This role translates business, operational, security and regulatory requirements into solutions that are scalable, resilient and supportable. It involves coordinating across system, database, software, hardware, network and third-party vendor teams, and leading design reviews, prototyping, integration testing, demonstrations, deployment and production stabilisation, so that systems meet performance, availability, cybersecurity, safety and operational objectives across their lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Own end-to-end solution architecture across the full stack, from infrastructure and edge components through to application and integration layers
- Develop current-state, transition-state and target-state architectures across logical, physical, application, integration, data, infrastructure, network, cybersecurity and deployment views
- Design highly available, resilient solutions that maintain safe operations through component, server, network, power or communication failures
- Engage customers, business stakeholders, operations and cybersecurity teams to understand business objectives, operational workflows, regulatory constraints, security requirements and SLAs
- Translate requirements into complete solution architectures covering servers, edge and client devices, compute nodes, embedded devices, sensor-based components, kiosks, video/imaging/analytics, network and application layers, and central management services
- Define network segmentation, wired/wireless connectivity, automatic failover, bandwidth, latency, QoS and recovery requirements
- Lead technology evaluation and selection across servers, edge devices, OS, databases, middleware, container/messaging platforms, specialised hardware and networking equipment
- Head architecture reviews, technical design reviews, threat-modelling sessions and implementation-readiness assessments
- Drive technical solutioning for tenders and proposals, including requirement analysis, compliance assessment, solution write-ups, architecture diagrams, BOMs, technical schedules, manpower estimates and implementation plans
- Take charge of technical troubleshooting during demonstrations, testing, deployment and production incidents, coordinating cross-functional teams on root cause and remediation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, EEE, Information Systems or related discipline
- 12+ years in solution architecture, systems integration, enterprise applications or large-scale mission-critical delivery
- Track record designing and delivering integrated systems spanning software, servers, networks, edge devices and third-party hardware
- Proven ability to take a solution from concept through architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, go-live and stabilisation
- Experience designing high-availability, fault-tolerant, recoverable systems for continuous operations
- Strong grasp of distributed systems, multi-tier architecture, SOA, microservices, APIs and event-driven integration
- Working knowledge of Java, .NET/C#, Python, Node.js, JavaScript or comparable stacks
- Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases, data modelling, transaction management, caching, replication, backup and recovery
- Knowledge of LAN, WAN, VLAN, routing, switching, firewalling, load balancing, wired/wireless networking, QoS and network resilience
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capability across software, infrastructure, network and hardware
