Job summary

Merquri is seeking a solutions architect to own the end-to-end design of cloud and hybrid architectures that underpin our enterprise platforms. You will translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective technical solutions - acting as the technical authority from discovery through to delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who can move between whiteboard, documentation, and code, and is equally fluent with stakeholders and hands-on implementation teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a solutions or cloud architect role.
• Deep AWS expertise across compute, networking, storage and security.
• Hands-on with IaC using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• AWS Solutions Architect - Professional (SAP-C02) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture design reviews and create ADRs and reference architectures.
• Define and govern AWS cloud standards across multi-account setups.
• Partner with engineering leads to evaluate build-vs-buy trade-offs and shape roadmaps.
• Act as a technical escalation point for incidents, performance, security findings.
• Drive migration and modernization initiatives aligned to the 7Rs framework.
• Collaborate with the security team to embed security and compliance controls into architecture patterns.
• Mentor senior engineers and share knowledge via RFCs, talks, and documentation.
• Engage with vendors and AWS account teams to evaluate services and commercial agreements.

Job description

We are looking for a solutions architect to join our engineering team and own the end-to-end design of cloud and hybrid architectures that underpin our enterprise platforms. You will work across product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective technical solutions - acting as the technical authority from discovery through to delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who can comfortably move between whiteboard, documentation, and code - equally fluent with stakeholders and with hands-on implementation teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead architecture design reviews and produce solution design documents, reference architectures, and decision records (ADRs) for new and existing systems
• Define and govern cloud architecture standards across AWS (primary), including multi-account strategies, networking, identity, and cost management
• Partner with engineering leads to evaluate build-vs-buy trade-offs, select appropriate AWS services, and shape delivery roadmaps
• Act as a technical escalation point for infrastructure incidents, performance bottlenecks, and security findings
• Drive migration and modernisation initiatives - assessing legacy workloads and producing migration plans aligned to the 7Rs framework
• Collaborate with the security team to embed security and compliance controls (IAM least privilege, encryption, audit logging) into architecture patterns from the outset
• Mentor senior engineers on architectural best practices and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing through RFCs, tech talks, and documentation
• Engage with vendors and AWS account teams to evaluate new services and commercial agreements

REQUIREMENTS

Must-have

• 5+ years in a solutions or cloud architect role
• Deep AWS expertise across compute, networking, storage, and security (EC2, VPC, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, KMS)
• Proven experience designing multi-account AWS environments using Organizations and Control Tower
• Hands-on with IaC: CloudFormation or Terraform
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear architecture documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
• AWS Solutions Architect - Professional (SAP-C02) or equivalent

Nice-to-have

• Experience with container platforms - ECS, EKS, or Fargate
• Background in enterprise software delivery (ERP or low-code platforms)
• Familiarity with FinOps practices and AWS Cost Explorer / Compute Optimizer
• Knowledge of ITIL or TOGAF frameworks
• Exposure to data architecture (Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation)
• Prior involvement in ISO 27001 or SOC 2 compliance programmes
• Experience presenting to C-suite and steering committees
