Job summary

Temus PTE. LTD. is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to ensure software reliability, automate tests, and continuously improve quality across the SDLC. You’ll collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams in an agile, DevOps-driven environment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in test automation, CI/CD, exploratory, regression, and performance testing, with a risk-based approach to deliver fast feedback and high quality software.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of test automation strategies and risk-based testing.
• Experience designing and executing test cases, plans and suites.
• Hands-on testing for web, mobile, and API services.
• Familiarity with cross-browser and responsive UI testing.
• Experience with Selenium, Playwright, or Robot Framework.
• Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Bamboo).
• Ability to design maintainable and reusable test automation suites.
• Knowledge of agile testing methodologies including TDD/BDD.

The Role:

The Software Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring software reliability, test automation, and continuous quality improvement across the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and other system owners to design and execute robust, risk-based testing strategies in an agile, DevOps-driven environment.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in test automation, CI/CD integration, and agile testing practices, with a good understanding of exploratory, regression, and performance testing, and is comfortable taking a risk-based approach to ensure fast feedback loops and high software quality.

Responsibilities:

Test Strategy & Planning:

• Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to define clear and actionable user story acceptance criteria.
• Analyze and decompose complex software systems to design holistic, risk-based test strategies.

Test Automation & CI/CD:

• Work with Software Engineers to ensure automated test coverage and prevent bugs and defects in production.
• Develop and maintain test automation frameworks using industry-standard tools.
• Take a risk-based approach to test automation, prioritizing critical functionality for maximum impact.
• Maintain a stable regression test suite integrated into QA nightly builds.
• Continuously refine smoke tests in the Development CI environment for early issue detection.

Test Execution & Coverage:

• Design, implement, and execute comprehensive test suites covering functional, regression, exploratory, and performance testing.
• Perform time-boxed exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues.

Integration & UAT:

• Lead system integration testing with other system owners to validate cross-system interactions.
• Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT), coordinating with stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met.

Defect & Test Management:

• Manage the defect lifecycle, test artifacts, and test repositories to ensure clear tracking and reporting.

Continuous Improvement & Scope:

• Drive continuous improvement in agile testing practices, tools, and methodologies.
• Take on a secondary role as an Application Performance Engineer or Application Security Engineer to expand testing coverage beyond functional aspects.

Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of test automation strategies and risk-based testing.
• Experience designing and executing test cases, test plans, and test suites.
• Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing for web, mobile, and API services.
• Familiarity with cross-browser, cross-platform, and responsive UI testing.
• Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or Robot Framework.
• Knowledge of test scripting and automation programming using Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#.
• Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Bamboo).
• Ability to design maintainable, scalable, and reusable test automation suites.
• Strong understanding of agile testing methodologies, including TDD, BDD, and exploratory testing.
• Experience working in agile development environments (Scrum, Kanban, XP).
• Familiarity with shift-left testing approaches, ensuring early defect detection.
• Experience with containerized testing in Docker/Kubernetes environments.
• Experience managing defect tracking and test repositories using tools such as JIRA.
• Familiar with testing and scanning tools such as Playwright, Robot Framework, SonarQube, JMeter, K6, Grafana, or LoadRunner.
