Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking an accomplished Technical Strategy & Engineering Leader in Singapore. The role focuses on defining the technical strategy, roadmaps and architecture for a portfolio of customer-facing applications and core platform services.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
  • At least 5 years in an engineering leadership role.
  • Experience scaling multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, observability and Agile/Scrum.
  • Vendor and external partner management, contract negotiations.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication translating tech to business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical strategy, roadmap and architecture across a portfolio of applications and platform services.
  • Ensure applications are scalable, secure, highly available and optimized for performance on AWS.
  • Champion best practices across CI/CD, observability, automated testing and SDLC.
  • Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams and senior leaders.
  • Oversee delivery of engineering initiatives with high quality and predictable execution.
  • Oversee development of customer-facing apps, backend platforms, APIs and integration services.
  • Manage strategic tech vendor relationships, SLAs and risk management.
  • Drive cost optimization across technology services and platforms.
  • Align technology priorities with business objectives with executive stakeholders.

Technical Strategy & Engineering Leadership

  • Define and drive the technical strategy, roadmap and architecture across a portfolio of customer-facing applications and core platform services.
  • Ensure applications are scalable, secure, highly available and optimised for performance on AWS.
  • Champion engineering best practices across CI/CD, observability, automated testing and the full SDLC.
  • Lead, mentor and develop multiple engineering teams and senior engineering leaders, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
  • Oversee the delivery of engineering initiatives, ensuring high-quality and predictable execution.
  • Oversee the development and evolution of customer-facing applications, backend platforms, APIs and integration services.
  • Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors and outsourcing partners, including SLAs, performance, risk and contract deliverables.
  • Drive cost optimisation across technology services and platforms.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership, Product, Finance and regional business stakeholders to align technology priorities with business objectives.
  • Communicate technical strategy, progress and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skillsets & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in an engineering leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing and scaling multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, observability, automated testing and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience managing technology vendors and external partners, including contract negotiations and performance management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes.
