Job summary

Position Summary

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer / Senior Solution Architect to drive the technology evolution of a next-generation Data Platform and help shape the broader software architecture strategy.

Reporting to the Director of Software, this role will provide senior technical leadership across architecture, platform transformation, software development, and engineering excellence. The successful candidate will work closely with global Engineering, Product, and R&D teams to translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable, high-quality commercial solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and define the architecture strategy for the transformation of an existing Data Platform into a modern, scalable next-generation platform.
• Lead the architecture and technical direction of new data and software platform capabilities.
• Contribute to a global software architecture community, driving cross-product solutions, integrations, and technology standards.
• Provide architectural oversight throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality solutions are delivered within agreed timelines.
• Champion the adoption of AI-assisted and AI-native software development practices to improve engineering productivity and quality.
• Collaborate with global Engineering, Product, and R&D teams to deliver consistent, seamless experiences across a broader product portfolio.
• Build strong relationships across functions and geographies, ensuring technology solutions address customer needs at a whole-system level.
• Establish and promote software engineering best practices, development standards, and effective product development methodologies.
• Support the growth of the Singapore software engineering organisation by strengthening technical capabilities, mentoring senior engineers, and helping build a centre of excellence.
• Partner with senior Product and Engineering leadership on technology strategy, product planning, and platform evolution.
• Participate as a key member of the software leadership team, contributing to strategic technical decisions and organisational priorities.

Key Requirements

• 12+ years of hands-on experience in software development and architecture for large, complex technology solutions.
• Strong experience defining and executing software architecture and platform transformation strategies.
• Demonstrated experience taking conceptual or research-stage ideas through development and into commercially viable products.
• Experience using AI tools to support software development, architecture, and engineering workflows.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Strong technical leadership capabilities, including the ability to establish an architectural vision and translate it into an actionable execution plan.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect detailed technical analysis to broader business and technology strategy.
• Experience leading and influencing senior-level engineering professionals.
• Experience working in a regulated technology environment would be advantageous.
• Preferred Experience & Skills
• Typically 15+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 12+ years with a Master's degree, or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering large-scale technology programmes using AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a software architecture role.
• Experience working in an AI-native software development environment.
• Experience with data platforms, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration.
• Experience taking complex technical solutions from concept through development, deployment, and commercialisation.
• Experience working directly with customers or partners on complex technical engagements.
• Experience in large-scale software, cloud, data, or platform environments would be advantageous.
