Trulyyy is seeking a senior engineering leader to guide a core backend function within a fast-growing financial services company. Reporting to the CTO, you will shape the team, roadmap, and architecture while staying hands-on when required.

You will build and mentor a multi-location team, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with product, operations, and control functions to deliver scalable technical solutions.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of backend software engineering experience, with leadership
• Strong hands-on experience in Golang, C++, or Java
• Experience designing and operating large-scale backend or distributed systems
• Relational databases, especially MySQL, including transactions and performance
• Comfortable with reliability, observability, and maintainability of complex production systems
• Able to lead as both technical leader and people manager

We are partnering with a high-growth, startup-driven financial services company to hire a senior engineering leader to lead one of its core backend engineering functions.

Reporting directly to the CTO, you will help shape the engineering team, technical roadmap, and backend architecture as the company scales.

The environment is fast-paced and highly ownership-driven, so this role is ideal for a leader who can build teams, make strong technical decisions, and stay hands-on when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multi-location backend engineering team supporting core financial products and platforms.
• Define the technical roadmap, engineering priorities, and development standards for the function.
• Partner with product, business, operations, and control functions to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Provide architectural guidance on complex backend systems, especially in areas involving scale, reliability, consistency, and distributed processing.
• Drive execution across both short-term business priorities and longer-term platform improvements.
• Improve engineering effectiveness through better development practices, automation, tooling, and practical adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows.
• Own key people-management responsibilities, including hiring, performance reviews, team development, and resource planning.
• Coordinate closely with other engineering teams and senior stakeholders across regions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an engineering management or team leadership role .
• Strong hands-on experience in Golang/C++/Java
• Solid experience designing and operating large-scale backend or distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly MySQL, including transactions, consistency, and performance considerations.
• Comfortable working with complex production systems where reliability, scalability, observability, and maintainability are critical.
• Able to operate effectively as both a technical leader and people manager.

Preferred Background

• Experience in financial technology, payments, trading, asset management, digital assets, or other transaction-intensive platforms.
