Job summary

Wise Singapore is seeking a Software Engineer to ship backend-driven applications that power the Spend Squad, focusing on the core cards flow and a seamless onboarding experience for customers. You will contribute to tooling for global expansion and ensure robust, testable code.

You will work with Java 17+, Spring, and React, and collaborate across teams to improve the Wise customer experience while maintaining high standards of performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience developing backend driven applications.
• Strong product mindset with focus on user experience.
• Excellent communication to convey complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience writing testable code and practicing Test Driven Development.
• Follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior/mid-level developers.
• Solid Java 17+ knowledge and Spring framework experience.
• Frontend experience with React or similar JavaScript framework.
• Experience with relational databases and query optimization.
• Familiarity with Continuous Delivery approaches.

Responsibilities

• Ship direct customer touch points on Wise's key products.
• Own the core cards flow and onboarding experience for users.
• Build interfaces and docs ensuring consistency, performance and maintainability.
• Identify and solve customer problems, coordinating with other teams.
• Drive product improvements affecting customer experience and internal teams.
• Address technical debt through planned work and cost considerations.
