Job summary

wola recruitment pte. ltd. is seeking an experienced Electrical Manager in Singapore to lead electrical engineering for advanced automation and semiconductor equipment.

You will oversee the full electrical lifecycle, from system architecture to commissioning, and drive safety, reliability and performance. The role requires strong leadership of a multi-disciplinary team and close collaboration with Mechanical, Software, Vision and Process Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in electrical design, controls, or PLC development for automation equipment.
• At least 3 years of technical leadership or project management.
• Experience with semiconductor/precision automation equipment is highly relevant.
• Proficiency with major PLC platforms (e.g., Mitsubishi, Siemens, Beckhoff, Omron).

Responsibilities

• Lead the full electrical engineering lifecycle for automation equipment from requirements to delivery.
• Develop and review electrical system architecture, schematics, BOMs.
• Provide technical leadership for PLC/HMI, safety interlocks, motion control, and networking.
• Guide automatic sequences, state machines, alarms, and recovery logic.
• Support assembly, integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control-system issues and drive improvements.
• Drive standardisation and modularisation of electrical systems and libraries.
• Lead and develop the electrical engineering team across projects.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to lead electrical engineering activities for advanced automation and semiconductor equipment.

The successful candidate will oversee the full electrical engineering lifecycle, including system architecture, component selection, electrical design, PLC/HMI development, motion control, equipment commissioning and technical troubleshooting.

This role will also lead and develop the electrical engineering team while working closely with Mechanical, Software, Vision, Process Engineering and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full electrical engineering lifecycle for automation equipment, from requirements analysis through design, commissioning and customer delivery.
• Develop and review electrical system architecture, electrical schematics, component selection and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Provide technical leadership for PLC/HMI architecture, safety interlocks, motion control and industrial communication systems.
• Guide the development of automatic sequences, state machines, alarm handling, safety logic and abnormal-recovery functions.
• Provide technical guidance during machine assembly, integration, testing and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control-system issues and lead corrective and preventive improvements.
• Drive standardisation and modularisation of electrical systems, including PLC programs, function blocks, electrical drawings and standard component libraries.
• Lead, coach and develop the electrical engineering team and allocate engineering resources across projects.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Software, Vision, Process Engineering and external suppliers to achieve project schedule, quality and cost objectives.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, trial production and production ramp-up at customer sites where required.
• Monitor relevant automation and semiconductor-equipment technologies and recommend suitable technical improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in electrical design, controls engineering or PLC development for automation equipment.
• At least 3 years of experience in technical leadership, team management or project leadership.
• Experience with semiconductor equipment, precision automation equipment or other complex automated machinery is highly relevant.
• Advanced semiconductor packaging equipment experience would be advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of at least one major PLC platform such as Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens, Inovance, Keyence, Beckhoff or CODESYS.
• Good understanding of PLC software architecture, automated sequences, state machines, alarms and safety interlocks.
• Experience with servo systems, stepper motors, variable-frequency drives, sensors, pneumatic components and machine-safety devices.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, TCP/IP or OPC UA.
• Experience integrating PLCs with systems such as industrial PCs, robots, machine-vision systems, barcode scanners or MES would be advantageous.
• Proficiency in electrical design tools such as EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong hands‑on commissioning, troubleshooting and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Able to support occasional business travel and project commissioning activities where required.
