Job summary

ARGYLL SCOTT CONSULTING PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Node.js and TypeScript Developer to join our tech team on a 12-month contract for government and public sector projects.

You will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs, collaborating with product managers, architects, frontend developers, and DevOps to deliver secure, reliable technology solutions. You will build RESTful APIs and microservices, ensure code quality, and participate in CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong experience designing backend applications and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Good understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, asynchronous programming and API integration.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with best practices, testing, code reviews, and Git; familiarity with CI/CD and Agile environments.

Job Description – Node.js & TypeScript Developer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Node.js & TypeScript Developer to join a technology team delivering digital platforms and applications for Government and Public Sector projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining scalable backend applications and APIs. You will work closely with product managers, solution architects, frontend developers, DevOps engineers and other stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable and high-quality technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices and backend integrations.
• Collaborate with solution architects and technical teams to translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions.
• Develop clean, maintainable, reusable and well-documented code following established engineering standards and best practices.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment and production support.
• Integrate applications with internal and external systems, databases and third-party services.
• Work closely with frontend developers to ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend components.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing and support SIT/UAT activities.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve application and production issues.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices and technical standards.
• Work with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support CI/CD pipelines, deployment and application monitoring.
• Ensure solutions are developed with appropriate consideration for security, performance, scalability and reliability.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation where required.
• Work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment and contribute to sprint planning, daily stand-ups and other project activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of software development experience, with strong hands-on experience in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong experience in designing and developing backend applications and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Good understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript development principles, asynchronous programming and API integration.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or similar.
• Familiarity with software engineering best practices, including:Object-oriented and/or functional programming principlesUnit and integration testingCode reviewsVersion control using GitCI/CD practices
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred / Good to Have

• Experience with frontend technologies such as React, Angular or Vue.js.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
• Experience with API gateways, authentication and authorisation mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect or JWT.
• Experience working on large-scale, enterprise or Government/Public Sector digital transformation projects.
• Familiarity with application security, secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience working within a structured governance, compliance or security environment.
