Job summary

Riskdata Consulting seeks an experienced Software and Applications Manager to lead development, enhancement and support of enterprise software. You will guide teams in delivering reliable, secure, scalable Java-based apps using modern engineering practices.

You will work with business and technical stakeholders to design, implement and operate Java microservices, REST APIs and data-driven apps with CI/CD automation across Cloud Foundry/OpenShift environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 9 years of experience in Java application development.
• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience developing microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with React and TypeScript for front-end development.
• Experience with Cloud Foundry and OpenShift.
• Experience with Git, Jenkins and CI/CD practices.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methods.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot, Spring JPA and Hibernate.

We are seeking an experienced Software and Applications Manager to provide technical leadership and oversee the development, enhancement and support of enterprise software applications. The role involves leading software development activities, providing technical expertise in Java-based applications and microservices, monitoring application quality and performance, and guiding the development of scalable software solutions.

The successful candidate will work closely with development teams, business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver reliable, secure and scalable applications using modern software engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot, Spring JPA and Hibernate.
• Develop and maintain scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Design and implement event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka, producers, consumers and message queues.
• Develop front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
• Integrate applications with relational databases including MySQL and MariaDB.
• Develop integrations with third-party systems and external services.
• Deploy and support applications on Cloud Foundry (PCF) and OpenShift platforms.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git and Jenkins.
• Perform unit testing using JUnit and Mockito and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and production issues.
• Monitor application health, Kafka consumer performance and database performance using tools such as Kibana and Grafana.
• Conduct performance tuning, system optimisation and application reliability improvements.
• Collaborate with business users, technical teams and other stakeholders in an Agile development environment.
• Prepare technical documentation and contribute to software design and development standards.

Requirements:

• Minimum 9 years of relevant experience in Java application development.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience developing microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with React and TypeScript for front-end development.
• Experience with Spring JPA, Hibernate, JPQL and relational databases such as MySQL/MariaDB.
• Experience with Cloud Foundry (PCF) and/or OpenShift.
• Experience with Git, Jenkins and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with JUnit and Mockito.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
