The role requires SQL and Excel proficiency, plus basic Python knowledge and strong communication to effectively serve brokers and clients in a fast-moving market.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and information-processing skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in SQL and Microsoft Excel.
• Basic knowledge of Python or coding language is an advantage; strong communication is required.
• Customer-oriented with ability to respond to commercial needs.
• Able to work independently, manage priorities and deadlines.
• Interest in developing within shipping and broking.
• Knowledge of international trade, commodities or shipping is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Commercial Shipping.
• Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Market intelligence and analysis to inform brokers and the desk.
• Maintain accurate tonnage and cargo market lists.
• Track Capesize vessel movements and nominations daily.
• Develop forecasting models for market volumes and trends with the Research Desk.
• Prepare and validate daily/weekly reports for data accuracy and integrity.
• Execute ETL; review SQL queries and data structures for quality and design.
• Enhance reports and dashboards for clear market condition analysis.
• Support brokers and clients with market briefings and materials.
• Assist during vessel negotiations and fixtures as needed.
• Gather market intelligence from news, conferences, and contacts to inform decisions.
