Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking a UX Designer for the LifeSG team at the Punggol Digital District (PDD) in Singapore. You will work within a Scrum team, inform product decisions, and craft intuitive government digital services in an agile setting.

GovTech Singapore is the lead government agency driving Singapore's Smart Nation initiative and public sector digital transformation. As the Centre of Excellence for Infocomm Technology and Smart Systems, GovTech develops capabilities in Data Science and AI, Application Development, Smart City Technology, Digital Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity. The LifeSG team within GovTech designs and develops software applications to help government agencies better serve the needs of Singaporeans, working in an Agile environment with a focus on tech best practices and improved user experience.

The role

The UX Designer sits within the LifeSG scrum team as a member of the broader UX team in GDP (Government Digital Products). The role works with the scrum team and partner government agencies to inform product and design decisions, influencing the digital experience of agency e-services. The office is located at the Punggol Digital District (PDD). The role may be considered at a senior level depending on experience.

What you would do

• Understand the overall product strategy and contribute design screens to concurrent active sprints within your first month.
• Run inceptions, gather requirements, co-create with stakeholders and the scrum team, test, prototype, and ship new features to the product backlog within three months.
• Lead research efforts to identify growth opportunities or propose enhancements to existing product tracks, in collaboration with designers, engineers, and product managers.
• Translate user research into design recommendations and findings that inform product direction.
• Tackle complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible, easy-to-use designs.
• Work with the scrum team and agencies to strategise product direction together, contributing to the UX and product team's success.

What they are looking for

• At least 4-5 years of professional experience in product design, covering end-to-end delivery including workshop facilitation, requirements gathering, usability testing, flow design, and hi-fidelity mockups.
• A product and user-centric mindset, with the ability to grasp use cases quickly and drive solutions that serve both users and stakeholders.
• Experience in user research and the ability to use data to justify design decisions.
• Ability to find the quickest route to design, test, and ship a prototype in an agile and lean way.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational, presentation, and listening skills; collaborative and comfortable co-creating with teams and stakeholders.
• Experience in an Agile and UX development environment is an advantage.
• Previous experience leading a UX design team is an advantage.
• Frontend development knowledge is a bonus.

Working arrangements

The role is hybrid, based at the Punggol Digital District (PDD) in Singapore. GovTech supports up to three work-from-home days per week depending on the role.
