Job summary

GovTech Singapore is hiring a Senior Designer to lead end-to-end design for digital, data and AI products that support Singapore’s resilience and sustainability goals. You will work with engineers, data scientists, operators, regulators and policymakers to craft solutions that deliver real public value.

The role emphasizes user research, rapid prototyping, and effective collaboration across design, product and tech teams to validate concepts and scale successful ideas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in UX/UI, Product design and/or front-end engineering.
• Strong grounding in user research methods and ability to lead discovery in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Demonstrated ability to take design work from problem framing through to validated solution.
• Ability to map workflows and identify where and what kind of tech interventions make sense for the team.

Responsibilities

• Navigate ambiguous problem spaces and lead discovery without fully defined briefs.
• Map workflows and identify opportunity spaces where technology can add value.
• Run or support stakeholder workshops and user research, distill insights, test and iterate.
• Own the end-to-end design process from discovery through validated prototype.
• Create rapid prototypes and POCs to validate concepts quickly.
• Advise policy, business and tech stakeholders on solution approaches and technical feasibility.
• Lead testing sessions with end users and gather feedback.
• Partner with Service Designer on joint engagements, or lead projects independently.
• Codify and document learnings and create patterns, skills and templates that divisions can adopt.

The Tech Adoption team is a cross-divisional capability that helps MSE teams adopt new ways of working and problem-solving. The team guides stakeholders through structured discovery to properly scope problems and map operational workflows, then rapidly prototypes and tests concepts to validate solutions. The team partners with stakeholders to reach their own conclusions about what's needed and what's possible, with the objective to raise the digital quotient across MSE, building confidence and capability. As a Senior Designer, you will shape and deliver a portfolio of digital, data and AI products that support some of Singapore's most critical sustainability and resilience functions. You will work with engineers, data scientists, operators, regulators and policymakers to solve complex real-world challenges in water, food, environmental and public health domains. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation, ensure market fit, and deliver exceptional value to our customers.

[What you will be working on]

[What we are looking for]

• At least 5 years of experience in UX/UI, Product design and/or front-end engineering
• Strong grounding in user research methods and ability to lead discovery in ambiguous problem spaces
• Demonstrated ability to take design work from problem framing through to validated solution
• Ability to map workflows and identify where and what kind of tech interventions make sense for the team
• Fluency with AI-assisted or driven design and development tools to accelerate from concept to validation
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with ability to influence stakeholders and guide them toward better outcomes
• The flexibility to shift between design and technical work based on your strengths and team needs
• A mix of UX and front end development skills is highly valued
