Job summary

Hanwha Ocean EPU seeks a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to lead telecommunications activities for FPSO, FLNG and offshore facilities from concept through EPCI. You will develop engineering deliverables, support procurement, and ensure systems meet safety, reliability and international standards.

The role requires 10+ years in offshore telecoms, FEED/EPCI experience, and strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronic or related Engineering.
• 10+ years of offshore telecommunications engineering experience.
• Experience in FEED and EPCI execution for FPSO, FLNG or offshore facility projects.
• Minimum 5 years with a leading FPSO, FLNG or Offshore EPC contractor.
• Knowledge of offshore telecommunications systems and industry standards.
• Experience in design, vendor coordination and multidisciplinary interfaces.
• Experience supporting construction, commissioning and offshore activities is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Execute telecommunications engineering activities across Concept to EPCI phases.
• Prepare design basis, system architecture, specifications, and drawings.
• Develop block diagrams, layouts, and installation drawings.
• Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines, clients, vendors and subcontractors.
• Review vendor documentation and support procurement and bid evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with company, client, class and international standards.
• Incorporate cyber security requirements into deliverables and reviews.
• Participate in HAZID/HAZOP, SIL, 3D model reviews and change management.
• Support construction, commissioning, sail-away, offshore installation and handover.

Position Overview

The Senior Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for executing telecommunications engineering activities for FPSO, FLNG and offshore facility projects throughout Concept, Feasibility, Pre‑FEED, FEED and EPCI phases. The role independently develops engineering deliverables, supports project execution and ensures telecommunications systems are safe, reliable, practical and compliant with Company, Client, Class and international standards.

The Senior Telecommunications Engineer provides technical support to the Lead Engineer, coordinates multidisciplinary interfaces, supports procurement, construction, commissioning and offshore activities, and contributes to continuous improvement through engineering best practices and lessons learned.

Telecommunications Engineering includes all communication, navigation, safety, security and information systems associated with FPSO, FLNG and offshore facilities.

Key Responsibility

Engineering & Project Execution

• Execute telecommunications engineering activities throughout Concept, Feasibility, Pre‑FEED, FEED and EPCI project phases.
• Prepare telecommunications design basis, system architecture, calculations, specifications, material requisitions and engineering deliverables.
• Develop and review block diagrams, layouts, installation drawings and technical documentation.
• Coordinate technical interfaces with other disciplines, clients, vendors and subcontractors.
• Review vendor documentation and provide technical support for procurement and bid evaluations.
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with Company, Client, Class, Flag State and applicable international codes and standards.
• Incorporate approved Cyber Security requirements into telecommunications engineering deliverables, vendor reviews and system integration activities, ensuring compliance with Company procedures, Client specifications and applicable industry standards.
• Participate in technical reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, 3D Model Reviews, Constructability Reviews and Management of Change activities.
• Support yard construction, mechanical completion, commissioning, sail‑away, transit voyage, offshore installation, start‑up, performance testing and final handover to Operations or Client, including technical troubleshooting at onshore and offshore locations.
• Support facility modifications, brownfield projects and operational improvements.
• Mentor junior telecommunications engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, procedures and lessons learned, for project lifecycle continuity.
• Provide telecommunications engineering support during construction, commissioning, sail‑away, transit voyage, offshore installation, start‑up and final handover, including technical troubleshooting and coordination with construction and commissioning teams.

Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree or Higher National (BTEC) Diploma, in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronic or related Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of telecommunications engineering experience in the offshore oil & gas industry.
• Experience in FEED and EPCI execution for FPSO, FLNG or offshore facility projects.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a leading FPSO, FLNG or Offshore EPC contractor.
• Good knowledge of offshore telecommunications systems, engineering practices, international codes and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in telecommunications design, vendor coordination, procurement support and multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
• Practical experience supporting construction, commissioning and offshore activities is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
