Job summary

Seatrium (SG) Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Telecom Systems Engineer to support technical discussions and ensure compliance with engineering standards. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering and over 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in offshore environments.

This role involves reviewing deliverables, system design verification, and guiding junior engineers. The job is based in Tuas Boulevard Yard, Singapore, with islandwide transport provided.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with offshore/marine standards (IEC, IMO, DNV, ABS).
• Experience in engineering design, installation, and commissioning.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Understand project and contract specifications and provide technical support in commercial discussions involving variation orders, scope, responsibility, and cost disputes with project stakeholders.
• Review and comment on Topside and Marine telecommunication systems deliverables issued by engineering sub‑contractors, such as design philosophies, single line diagrams, room layout, deck arrangement, cable schedules, hazardous area plans, etc.
• Ensure designs comply with contract, classification and local authority regulations and monitor progress.
• Monitor drawing schedules and planned telecommunication engineering design activities to keep them aligned with the overall project execution plan.
• Perform system design verification, including PAGA sound coverage, PAGA voltage‑drop calculation, link budget, and system redundancy cabling.
• Review equipment layout to ensure compliance and coordinate with various disciplines on material handling, constructability, installation, operation, maintenance, and safety issues.
• Review procurement engineering documents (technical specifications, equipment data sheets, MTO, technical bid evaluation) and participate in bid clarification meetings with vendors to assist in vendor selection.
• Review and consolidate MTOs and issue them for purchase.
• Review vendor documents and participate in vendor FATs as the lead representative.
• Participate in technical meetings, progress reviews, 3D model reviews, workshops; address issues related to telecom design and interface.
• Address comments from the client, classification, local authority and 3rd‑party consultants with assistance from engineering sub‑contractors.
• Communicate with vendors and other disciplines to ensure changes are captured timely and implemented in design and 3D models.
• Follow up on all telecommunication engineering activities after taking over from engineering sub‑contractors, including document updating, vendor document review, construction support, and commissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or related disciplines.
• 5–10+ years of experience in telecom systems, preferably in offshore, marine or oil & gas projects.
• Experience with telecom systems such as PABX, radio, CCTV, PAGA, and data networks.
• Familiarity with offshore/marine standards (IEC, IMO, DNV, ABS).
• Experience in engineering design, installation and commissioning.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lead or mentor junior engineers.
• Comfortable working in shipyard/offshore environments.
• Willingness to travel or work extended hours when required.
