Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime Singapore is seeking a Senior Telecom Engineer to lead the detailed engineering of the Telecom Package for marine and oil & gas projects. You will ensure designs meet client specs and international codes, and act as Lead Telecom on assigned projects.

Responsibilities include systems design, bid evaluation, drawing reviews, and FAT coordination with clients and vendors. The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience in a diverse, global

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in engineering is required.
• 10+ years in designing and commissioning telecom systems for Marine/O&G.
• Familiar with IEC/IEEE/ANSI/NORSOK/DNV/ABS and ATEX/IEC Ex directives.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong vendor management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design telecom systems for marine and oil & gas projects.
• Prepare RFQ and perform technical bid evaluations.
• Create Functional Design Specifications for telecom systems.
• Review TQ, MTO, equipment lists, and cable schedules.
• Produce and review AutoCAD drawings (cable block diagrams, layouts, terminations).
• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of telecom systems.
• Ensure compliance with international codes and standards.
• Coordinate with electrical and instrument disciplines for interfaces.
• Attend client meetings and answer technical queries.
• Lead FAT with client and vendor.
• Handle additional related tasks as assigned.

An incredible opportunity awaits you as a Senior Telecom Engineer. In this role, you will play a part in our dynamic Projects team at Kongsberg Maritime Singapore / Southeast Asia, delivering essential technical expertise for our business.

Senior Telecom Engineer is responsible for the detailed engineering for the Telecom Package and ensures that the design is complying to the client’s specifications and international standards and codes, based on the selected class for the project. Senior Telecom Engineer is also expected to take the Lead Telecom Position for assigned Projects.

What you will be doing

• Systems design engineering of Telecom Systems commonly used in Marine and Oil & Gas sector


• Prepare and review RFQ, and Technical Bid Evaluation as when required


• Prepare and review Functional Design Specification for Telecom Systems


• Prepare and review TQ, MTO, Equipment List and Cable Schedule related to Project


• Prepare and review AutoCAD drawings like Cable Block Diagram, Layout Drawings, Termination Drawings related to Project Design


• Installation Supervision, Testing & Commissioning of Telecom Systems commonly used in Marine and Oil & Gas sector


• Ensure compliance with international codes and standards like IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NORSOK, DNV, LLYODS & ABS.


• Liaise with Electrical, Instrument and other disciplines for interface engineering


• Attend Client meetings and answer all technical queries related to the Project


• Lead and conduct FAT together with Client and Vendor.


• Any other associated tasks and responsibilities assigned from time to time

We think you should have

• Minimum Diploma/Degree in Engineering


• Minimum 10 years’ experience in design engineering and commissioning of Telecommunication systems for Marine and Oil & Gas sector


• Conversant with international codes and standards like IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NORSOK, DNV, LLYODS & ABS. An understanding and working knowledge of the ATEX /IEC Ex Directives, and the installation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas


• Able to multi-task and work on two or more Projects at the same time


• Good Vendor Management Skills


• Excellent Communication Skills
