Job summary

Semco Maritime in Singapore is seeking a Senior Telecom Engineer to drive the telecom engineering package within a major oil and gas EPC project. You will lead a team of telecom engineers, coordinate with vendors and customers, and ensure design, drawings and specifications meet project schedules.

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or IT is required.
• Relevant experience in telecom engineering, system integration, design or project engineering.
• Experience in TSI/ Telecom System Integration is highly preferred; EPC, Oil & Gas, Marine or industrial projects preferred.
• Candidates with transferable telecom engineering experience across engineering, installation, testing and commissioning are an advantage.
• Able to lead a team of telecom engineers to meet project schedules and customer expectations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Team player with a positive and proactive attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and spoken English).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in smooth running and implementation of the project.
• Design and preparation of drawings and specifications for procurement of equipment.
• Develop detailed system design with diagrams and schematics.
• Selection of telecom equipment and development of bulk material listings.
• Provide input for reports, equipment lists and fabrication/installation.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders.
• Lead telecom engineers/junior engineers and review designs and deliverables.
• Coordinate with customers, consultants, vendors and subcontractors.

Job Description & Requirements

Assist the Project Manager in smooth running and implementation of the project

Main tasks/areas of responsibility:

• Design
• Preparation of drawings
• Preparation of specifications for procurement of equipment
• Develop detailed system design with diagrams and schematics.
• Selection of telecom equipment
• Develop bulk material listings
• Provide input for preparation of selected reports, weight, equipment list, function and fabrication / installation
• Coordination with other disciplines
• Professional responsibility

Main principal duties:

• Participate in all engineering phases:
• Feasibility
• Concept
• Feed
• Detailed
• Understand and interpret requirements from customers and authorities.
• Clarify design certification with customers and 3rd party.

Minor tasks/areas of responsibility:

• Participation in customer visits and –contact
• Participation in technical project meetings

In addition to the above, Senior Engineers should have the ability to:

• Take technical ownership of telecom engineering packages.
• Lead and guide Telecom Engineers / Junior Engineers.
• Review engineering designs, drawings and technical deliverables.
• Coordinate with customers, consultants, vendors and subcontractors.
• Manage technical interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
• Support project planning and ensure engineering deliverables meet project schedules.
• Lead technical discussions and resolve engineering issues independently.

System Knowledge (Must have experience in at lease one of the following categories):

1. Radio Communication Systems

GMDSS, Microwave Radio, SCADA Radio, Trunked Radio, Crane Radio, Radio Dispatch, Satellite Phone

2. Security Systems:

Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion Detection, PABX (VoIP), Person On Board (POB)

3. Navigation Aids:

Radar, ECDIS, Auto Pilot, AIS, DGPS, LRIT, Compass, Echo Sounder, Speed Log, VDR, Navigation & Obstruction Lights, RACON, Fog Horn, BNWAS, VSAT, Entertainment System, EMS

4. Wired Communication:

PAGA, Page Party, Talk Back, Smart Series, Driller, PABX (Analog), Sound-Powered Phone System

We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications and experience:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or IT is required

Experience/Personal Qualities:

Relevant Experience in telecom engineering, system integration, design or project engineering.

Experience in TSI/ Telecom System Integration is highly preferred/ Experience in EPC, Oil & Gas, Marine, Shipyard, Petrochemical, Power or other industrial projects is strongly preferred.

Candidates with strong transferable telecom engineering experience across engineering, installation, testing and commissioning will be an advantage.

Able to lead a team of telecom engineer/junior telecom engineer to meet various project schedule, customer expectation
