Job summary

Kok Tong Construction Pte Ltd is seeking a Design Manager to lead design management for civil and structural projects in Singapore. You will support both technical and construction teams and ensure compliance with contractual requirements across disciplines.

You will review technical drawings, coordinate with consultants and clients, and manage the design approval process to resolve issues efficiently. BIM coordination and tender document preparation are also key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• PE Board recognised degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of design management experience, with at least 3 years in a consultant firm.
• Strong coordination with other disciplines.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good organization and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the technical team and construction team for all design matters.
• Review all technical documentation and drawings of the Project works.
• Collaborate with consultants on scope of services, design and deliverables to improve site efficiency.
• Manage design approval process and coordinate with clients, consultants and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure design compliance with contractual requirements.
• Distribute approved drawings and relevant documents to parties.
• Prepare shop drawings with BIM team or subcontractors and obtain approvals before site installation.
• Raise queries to Client or handle Client clarifications on technical requirements.
• Identify risks or issues affecting project performance and inform management.
• Prepare and present design progress status to management, project team, and Client as required.
• Coordinate with Architectural, MEP, BIM, and other disciplines to deliver high quality outcomes.
• Support tender team and prepare technical tender documents for bidding on civil and structural projects.
• Attend Progress, Technical, Coordination, and Site Meetings.

Job description

Responsibilities :

• Support the technical team and construction team for all design matters.
• Review all technical documentation and drawings of the Project works.
• Work closely with consultant on the scope of services, design and project deliverables to enhance site efficiency and constructability.
• Manage design approval process and coordination with the clients, consultants and subcontractors in a timely manner to resolve all technical issues.
• Ensure strict compliance of the design in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Ensure the distribution of all the approved and latest drawings and other relevant documents to the relevant parties
• Prepares shopdrawings with in-house BIM team and/or subcontractors and obtains approval in advance to site installation dates
• Raises queries to Client or handles Client's clarification on technical requirements pertaining to the Project works.
• Identifies and highlight to management and project team of any potential risks or issues that will impact project performance.
• Prepares and presents design progress status and slides to management, project team and Client as and when required.
• Strong coordination and collaboration with other disciplines (i.e. Architectural, MEP, BIM, etc( on design to ensure delivery of high quality outcome.
• Support tender team and prepare technical tender documents as per specifications for bidding of civil and structural engineering projects as when assigned.
• Attends Progress Meetings, Technical Meetings, Coordination Meeting, Site Meetings, etc.

Requirements :

• PE Board Recognised Degree in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of design management experience with at least 3 year of design experience in consultant firm.
• Strong coordination and collaboration with other disciplines.

• Good organization and time management skills.
