Job summary

QUESS ENGINEERING PTE. LTD. seeks an experienced Storage Engineer in Singapore to administer and optimize enterprise backup and storage environments. You will manage NetApp ONTAP, Dell EMC, and Pure Storage platforms, implement DR drills, and ensure data protection across VMware, SQL, Oracle, and file systems.

You will lead L2/L3 backup support, integrate cloud backup options, and enforce ITIL-aligned incident/change processes while coordinating with application and infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in storage administration.
• Strong experience with NetApp ONTAP (AFF/FAS).
• Hands-on experience with Dell EMC storage systems and replication technologies.
• Knowledge of Pure Storage platforms (FlashArray/FlashBlade).
• Expertise in SAN technologies including Brocade switches and fabric management.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Active IQ, Unisphere, and Pure1.
• Understanding storage protocols (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, FC).

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise backup solutions using Cohesity, Commvault and NetBackup. Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot backup jobs, schedules, and policies.
• Perform regular backup validation, restore testing, and disaster recovery drills. Collaborate with application, database, and infrastructure teams to ensure backup coverage and SLAs.
• Manage backup storage capacity, retention policies, and tape library operations.
• Implement and maintain backup reporting and alerting mechanisms. Ensure compliance with data protection policies and regulatory requirements.
• Provide L2/L3 support for backup-related incidents and service requests. Document backup architecture, procedures, and recovery plans.
• Strong experience with Cohesity, Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery and Veritas NetBackup. Knowledge of backup strategies for VMware, Hyper‑V, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and file systems.
• Familiarity with cloud backup integrations (Azure, AWS, GCP). Experience with deduplication, encryption, and data retention policies.
• Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation. Understanding of ITIL processes and incident/change management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Commvault Certified Professional, Veritas Certified Specialist) are a plus.
• Administer and manage NetApp ONTAP environments including clusters, SVMs, aggregates, and volume provisioning (NFS/CIFS)
• Configure and maintain data protection solutions such as SnapMirror and SnapVault
• Perform storage provisioning, LUN creation, mapping, and masking on Dell EMC platforms (PowerMax, Unity, PowerScale/Isilon)
• Manage replication technologies including SRDF
• Administer Pure Storage FlashArray and FlashBlade using GUI/CLI and Pure1 portal
• Configure and troubleshoot Brocade SAN switches, including zoning and fabric management
• Monitor storage performance, utilization, and capacity; perform forecasting and optimization
• Provide L2/L3 support, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and resolve storage incidents
• Execute firmware upgrades, patching, and change activities following ITIL processes
