Job summary

The officer's work spans the full data lifecycle, from ensuring the accuracy and completeness of incident records, to analysing trends in areas such as deployment effectiveness, response performance, and resource utilisation, and ultimately translating these into insights that inform operational planning decisions.

The officer's work spans the full data lifecycle, from ensuring the accuracy and completeness of incident records, to analysing trends in areas such as deployment effectiveness, response performance, and resource utilisation, and ultimately translating these into insights that inform operational planning decisions.

What You Will Be Working On

• Provides timely, operations‑focused data analytics to support evidence‑based decision‑making in areas relating to operational readiness, incident patterns, deployment effectiveness, response performance, and resource utilisation.
• Analyses operational trends, incident characteristics, workload distribution, and performance indicators, translating data into actionable insights.
• Leverages Ops operational systems to optimise deployment strategies, anticipate operational pressures, and enhance ground response effectiveness through data‑driven decision‑making.
• Evaluates existing data collection, cleaning, and analysis processes, and design improved workflows to enhance the accuracy as well as breadth and depth of operational data collected to surface richer operational insights.
• Maintains and tracks a comprehensive and accurate repository of fire and rescue incidents responded to by the force, ensuring data integrity and completeness for operational analysis and reporting.
• Develops processes and self-service capabilities on SCDF's data platform to enable frontline units and internal departments to independently retrieve validated operational statistics, reducing reliance on manual data requests.

What We Are Looking For

• Degree in data analytics, statistics, computer science or a related discipline.
• Ability to take ownership and demonstrate consistency in ensuring data quality, accuracy and reliability in all analytical outputs.
• Ability to work with multi-source datasets, maintain data quality and integrity, and strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities and deliverables.
• Ability to communicate and present analytical insights to operational and command stakeholders.
• Ability to maintain detailed records of all analytical approaches, statistical methods, and computational techniques used in data analysis.
• Ability to stay current with evolving emergency management practices, new data analytical tools, and changing data policies.
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to modify and refine analytical approaches in response to shifting operational environments, emergency incident types, etc.
