Job summary

Motional is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (SRE Focus) to join the Engineering Enablement team. You will build and evolve internal platforms, services, and toolchains that power engineering workflows across Motional.

In this role, you will partner with teams to enhance reliability, performance, and scalability of our infrastructure platforms, manage complex business-critical systems, and deliver high-quality services to internal customers.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent knowledge and work experience.
• 5+ years in SRE, DevOps related roles.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP), infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation), CI/CD tools (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins) and containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong background in modern programming languages (Python, Go, C++ are the ones we use)
• Expertise in software development lifecycle including the ability to understand ambiguous goals and convert them into software requirements
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable backend services, CI/CD pipelines, build systems, toolchains and platforms that can support developer workflows
• Improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and observability across distributed systems by introducing new tools and/or building new features
• Partner with other engineering teams to analyze and optimize AWS spend by implementing cost-effective strategies and identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements in cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and health, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact users
• Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical roadmaps
