Starry Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Leader in Singapore to build and guide an SRE team. The role combines technical leadership, people management, and practical engineering to enhance reliability, scalability, security, and efficiency of a global SaaS platform.

You will contribute to internal platforms, automation, and AI-enabled engineering solutions to boost productivity and operational excellence across regions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software dev, platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related field with team leadership.
• Experience delivering software projects from design through production.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, high-availability SaaS platforms.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, CI/CD, Observability/Monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and develop the Singapore-based SRE team and set technical direction.
• Improve system reliability, scalability, security, availability, and efficiency of the global SaaS platform.
• Lead end-to-end projects from architecture through deployment and production rollout.
• Design and build internal platforms, developer tools, and automation to solve recurring challenges.
• Establish and maintain 24/7 on-call operations and lead incident management.
• Develop observability, governance, reliability targets, and release safety.
• Identify AI tool applications to improve productivity and reliability.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Leader

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on SRE Leader with a strong software engineering background to build and lead an SRE team in Singapore.

In this role, you will combine technical leadership, people management, and hands-on engineering to improve the reliability, scalability, security, and efficiency of a global SaaS platform.

You will also play an important role in building internal platforms, automation, developer tools, and AI-enabled engineering solutions to improve engineering productivity and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, mentor, and develop the Singapore-based SRE team, setting technical direction and engineering priorities.
• Drive improvements in system reliability, scalability, security, availability, and engineering efficiency across a global SaaS platform.
• Lead technical projects end-to-end, from architecture and design through development, deployment, and production rollout.
• Design and build internal platforms, developer tools, and automation to solve recurring engineering and operational challenges.
• Establish and maintain 24/7 on-call operations, participate in incident response, and lead major incident management and post-incident improvements.
• Develop and improve observability, service governance, reliability targets, and release safety.
• Identify and implement practical applications of AI tools and AI agents to improve engineering productivity, software quality, and system reliability.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Security, and other technical teams across multiple regions.
• Drive engineering best practices and foster a culture of ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software development, platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or a related technical field, including experience leading an engineering team.
• Proven experience delivering software or engineering projects from design through production.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, high-availability architecture, and SaaS platforms.
• Hands-on experience with:
• AWS
• CI/CD
• Observability / Monitoring
• Production operations and incident response
• Practical experience applying AI tools or AI agents to engineering workflows, with the ability to evaluate their output and turn successful approaches into repeatable engineering practices.
• Strong technical judgment, ownership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, lead technical teams, and drive cross-functional projects.
• Mandarin proficiency is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building internal platforms, developer tools, or AI-powered engineering applications from the ground up.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects.
• Experience developing and deploying AI-enabled tools or workflows adopted by engineering teams.
• Experience working in a high-growth technology or SaaS environment.
