Job summary

GovTech in Singapore is seeking a senior Java engineer to join the team building digital government services and scalable, secure APIs for smart nation initiatives.

You will collaborate across teams to design resilient microservices, implement OAuth2/JWT security, and optimize performance in cloud-native environments (AWS/GCP/Azure). Opportunity for growth and hands-on architecture reviews and incident response.

Qualifications

• Deep experience in Java 17+ with strong OOP, concurrency, and performance tuning fundamentals.
• Deep experience with Spring related technologies Spring Boot 3.x / Spring Cloud / Spring Security (OAuth 2.0 / OIDC authentication flows, JWT token management)
• Deep experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL and migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway
• Experience in design and operation of event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
• Experience architecting applications in one or more cloud-native environments such as AWS (preferred), GCP or Azure
• Experience in microservice architecture at scale and related patterns e.g. circuit breakers, bulkheads, retry

Responsibilities

• Write clear, unambiguous technical specifications that serve as effective context for junior engineers and AI-tools
• Design and deliver features that span services or components, considering modularity, scalability, and resiliency
• Incorporate security, compliance, and performance as design constraints from the outset
• Author technical design documents for moderately complex features and conduct architecture reviews, providing actionable feedback
• Lead incident triage and debugging for production issues, drive post-incident reviews with concrete root cause analysis and preventive actions
