Job summary

Open Government Products (OGP) is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and enhance the ActiveSG platform. You will tackle high-traffic, real-time booking and payment workflows, and create scalable services that connect citizens with sports facilities and programs.

You will collaborate with a cross-functional team, emphasizing user-centric design, prototyping, and fast iteration in a flexible work environment that supports autonomy and learning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and backend development (Next.js, Node.js).
• Experience designing REST APIs and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Excellent communication and ability to translate requirements into software.
• Strong product thinking and user empathy, especially for non-technical users.
• Bonus: Familiarity with CI/CD, Git workflows, and IaC.
• Bonus: Experience in startups or fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable software across the stack—from frontend to services and infrastructure.
• Write maintainable, tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with PMs, designers, and field Officers to scope features and ship solutions that solve real pain points.
• Document engineering specs and RFCs to improve knowledge sharing.
• Set up monitoring, alerting, and testing to keep systems production-ready and reliable.
• Own projects end-to-end from discovery to deployment and iteration.
• Contribute to Open Government Products' culture of continuous improvement.
