Job summary

Airwallex is building a state-of-the-art lending platform in Singapore. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will architect and implement large-scale systems, focusing on secure, scalable credit experiences for enterprise clients.

You will lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver embedded lending solutions and APIs. This role is based in Singapore and emphasizes modern engineering practices and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with strong exposure to modern engineering practices, continuous integration, and quality engineering.
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership role, mentoring engineers and leading the definition and execution of engineering strategy.
• Strong computer science foundation and object-oriented programming skills, with proven experience building backend systems. Primarily using Java or Kotlin and the Spring / Spring Boot framework.
• Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs, with familiarity in modern API design principles and tools.
• Experience with domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures in production environments.
• Proven track record designing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency, highly available distributed systems at scale.
• Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and implement large-scale, secure, and scalable systems for our lending platform.
• Build and maintain secure, scalable, well-documented APIs for embedding credit products.
• Lead design reviews and mentor engineers to uphold high standards of code quality.
• Champion resilient distributed systems design to ensure platform reliability at enterprise scale.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful lending solutions.
• Promote automated testing, code review, and monitoring to ensure stability and security.
• Stay on top of industry trends and drive improvements to architecture and delivery efficiency.
