Job summary

Airwallex is building a state‑of‑the‑art lending platform in Singapore. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll architect, design, and implement large‑scale, secure systems for our lending platform, enabling fast, compliant credit experiences for global enterprise clients.

You will lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality APIs and services. The role offers growth opportunities in a fast‑moving fintech environment in Singapore.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with modern practices and CI.
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership role, mentoring engineers.
• Strong CS foundation with OO programming; backend systems (Java/Kotlin) and Spring Boot.
• Extensive experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with DDD and event-driven architectures in production.
• Proven ability to design high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems.
• Cloud experience with GCP or AWS with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust services powering lending, with a key focus on credit products.
• Build and maintain secure, scalable, and well‑documented APIs that enable clients to embed credit products.
• Lead design reviews, advise on systems architecture, and mentor engineers to uphold high standards.
• Champion resilient, distributed systems design for global enterprise scale.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver lending solutions.
• Promote robust automated testing, code review, and monitoring for stability and security.
• Stay on top of industry trends and drive platform improvements.
