Job summary

GovTech, Singapore’s lead agency for Smart Nation initiatives, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to evolve a complex public-sector platform. You will design and implement backend services, ensure data integrity, and drive reliable, maintainable systems that support critical operations.

You will work with teams to improve engineering quality, contribute to technical direction, and apply modern practices across the stack.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot and backend services.
• Proficient in TDD and automated testing (JUnit/JMeter).
• Experience with REST APIs and enterprise integration patterns.
• Strong database experience with PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Exposure to AWS services (EC2/RDS/EKS) is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and version control.

Responsibilities

• Design backend services, APIs and application logic for complex workflows.
• Translate business rules into clean, maintainable software designs.
• Build robust domain models and service boundaries for long-term maintainability.
• Implement validations, state transitions, and orchestration for transactions.
• Collaborate with QA, BI analysts, and developers to ensure testable, observable systems.
• Write high-quality code with automated test coverage.
• Participate in design reviews, defect analysis and release readiness.
