Job summary

Daikin Holdings Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design and implement high-performance Golang services. You will work across the stack with Linux systems, CI/CD practices, and cloud platforms, collaborating with frontend teams to integrate APIs and build scalable web backends.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in web backend development, strong Golang expertise, Linux proficiency, and excellent English and Chinese communication skills.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles and practices, including architecture, design patterns, modular design, abstraction, concurrency, testing, debugging, code review, and version control.
• 5+ years of solid professional backend development experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, databases, and software architecture.
• Professional experience with Golang, including goroutines, channels, interfaces, and production-grade service development.
• Hands-on Linux experience, including system troubleshooting, networking, processes, services, and shell scripting.
• Proven experience leading or managing a software engineering team, including mentoring engineers, planning work, and driving delivery.
• Excellent English and Chinese communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities:

• Backend Development: Design and develop reliable, high-performance web backend services, with Golang as a key technology.

• Software Engineering: Apply strong software engineering practices to design, implement, test, review, and maintain high-quality production software.

• Engineering Excellence: Establish good practices for testing, CI/CD, monitoring, reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Linux & System Development: Develop and troubleshoot software running on Linux, including system-level components and services.

• Web Technology: Work closely with frontend developers and have a good understanding of modern web frontend technologies, architectures, and API integration.

Requirements:

• Software Engineering: Strong knowledge of software engineering principles and practices, including software architecture, design patterns, modular design, abstraction, concurrency, testing, debugging, code review, performance optimization, maintainability, and version control.

• Backend Experience: 5+ years of solid professional experience in web backend development, with strong understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, databases, concurrency, and software architecture.

• Golang: Strong professional experience with Golang, including goroutines, channels, interfaces, and production-grade service development.

• Linux: Strong hands-on experience with Linux, including system troubleshooting, networking, processes, services, and shell scripting.

• Team Management: Proven experience leading or managing a software engineering team, including mentoring engineers, planning work, conducting technical reviews, and driving delivery.

• Communication: Excellent English and Chinese communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ownership & Execution: A self-starter who can take ownership of complex problems, make sound technical decisions, and deliver production-ready solutions with minimal supervision.

• Database: Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases. Experience with time-series databases is a plus.

• Messaging: Understanding of message-driven and event-driven architectures. Experience with MQTT, NATS, Kafka, or similar technologies is a plus.

• DevOps: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.

• Web Frontend: Good understanding of modern web frontend technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Vue, or similar. The candidate does not need to be a frontend specialist but should be comfortable working across the web stack.

• C++: Good working knowledge of C++ and experience developing or maintaining C++ applications is preferred.

• Git: Strong proficiency with Git and collaborative software development workflows.

• Cloud: Practical experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Experience with cloud-native architecture is highly desirable.

Bonus Skills

• Cybersecurity: Knowledge of application security, network security, authentication/authorization, secure software development, or security best practices.

• Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or other building automation / IoT protocols.

• Experience with edge computing, IoT, or Building Management Systems (BMS).

• Experience with Time-Series Databases and large-scale historical data processing.

• Contributions to GitHub or meaningful personal/open-source projects.
