Job summary

F5 is seeking a Security Engineer to lead incident response, vulnerability management, and customer security incident handling. You will guide investigations, coordinate remediation with Engineering, and publish advisories while mentoring teams and building a security-focused culture.

You will work with global teams to strengthen response processes, conduct training, and drive threat intelligence initiatives.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in technical security roles (incident response, security support, monitoring, or consulting).
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive incident handling in production environments and coordination of vulnerability response.
• Expert understanding of CVE, CVSS, vulnerability assessment and risk prioritization; familiarity with NIST frameworks.
• CISSP, GCIH, or comparable certifications; cloud certifications are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of application, network, and infrastructure security including threat modeling and secure coding.
• Experience with cloud platforms and security tooling (WAFs, IDS/IPS, scanners) and ability to analyze code-level vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead security incident investigations and remediation efforts with escalations when needed.
• Coordinate vulnerability triage and remediation with Engineering and stakeholders.
• Develop and publish security advisories, mitigations, and fix notifications.
• Mentor engineers and drive security awareness through training and simulations.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen incident response processes and metrics.
