Job description

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Senior Sales Manager to lead the development and capture of major Submarine and HVDC cable system opportunities within Prysmian's Transmission business. The role combines senior customer ownership, opportunity and tender leadership, and direct responsibility for a multidisciplinary team comprising Sales, System Engineering and Installation Engineering.

The Senior Sales Manager will lead complex, high-value and typically turnkey/EPC pursuits from early market engagement and solution shaping through tendering, negotiation and contract award. The role is accountable for developing competitive and executable technical-commercial solutions while protecting profitability, contractual position and risk profile.

Reporting to the Regional Business Director, the Senior Sales Manager is responsible for delivering the regional order intake, revenue quality and strategic business development objectives for Submarine and HVDC systems. The role establishes and nurtures relationships with TSOs, utilities, private developers, governments, regulators, partners and other key stakeholders, positioning Prysmian as the preferred lifecycle partner for major power transmission infrastructure projects.

The role provides integrated leadership across commercial, system design and installation solution development. It ensures that customer requirements are translated into a technically sound, operationally feasible, competitively differentiated and contractually bankable offer, supported by disciplined governance and clear accountability.

Team Overview and Job responsibilities
Business Development and Customer Leadership
  • Own and develop the regional pipeline for Submarine and HVDC cable systems, from early project origination through contract closure, in line with agreed strategic priorities and sales targets.
  • Build trusted, long‑term relationships with senior decision‑makers across TSOs, utilities, developers, governments, regulators, consultants, partners and the wider energy ecosystem.
  • Develop account strategies and stakeholder engagement plans, coordinating executive sponsorship and ensuring consistent customer positioning across the organization.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of market drivers, project pipelines, customer investment plans, competitor positioning, technology trends, supply‑chain constraints and regulatory developments.
  • Shape project concepts and procurement strategies at an early stage, promoting solutions and contracting models that create value for customers and sustainable returns for Prysmian.
Opportunity, Tender and Negotiation Leadership
  • Lead the end‑to‑end pursuit and tender process for complex, high‑value Submarine and HVDC projects, establishing the win strategy, value proposition, competitive positioning and governance roadmap.
  • Act as bid leader and single point of accountability for the quality, coherence and timely delivery of the complete technical‑commercial proposal.
  • Coordinate commercial, contractual, financial, technical, manufacturing, installation, project management, procurement, legal, tax, insurance and risk functions throughout the pursuit.
  • Ensure that bids are based on robust assumptions, clear scope boundaries, executable schedules, validated costs, appropriate contingencies and a disciplined risk‑and‑opportunity assessment.
  • Lead customer clarifications, commercial and contractual negotiations, internal approvals and contract closing, ensuring compliance with delegated authorities and company governance.
  • Drive improvement in proposal quality, tender efficiency and sales processes through structured reviews, benchmarking and application of lessons learned.
Technical Solution and Execution Readiness
  • Lead the integration of System Engineering and Installation Engineering into the sales process, ensuring that the proposed cable system and installation solution are optimized as one executable package.
  • Ensure alignment of system design, cable architecture, accessories, land and marine installation methodologies, vessels, burial tools, logistics, interfaces, testing, commissioning and operational constraints.
  • Challenge and validate key technical and execution assumptions, including route conditions, installation windows, vessel strategy, permitting interfaces, site constraints, reliability, availability and lifecycle requirements.
  • Ensure effective handover from Sales to Project Execution after award, with transparent transfer of commitments, assumptions, risks, opportunities, customer expectations and negotiation history.
  • Support the project team during execution on strategic customer, contractual and commercial matters, particularly where continuity of the sales relationship is critical.
People and Functional Leadership
  • Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team including Sales, System Engineering and Installation Engineering professionals, setting clear objectives, priorities and standards of performance.
  • Create an integrated team culture that combines customer focus, technical excellence, commercial discipline, accountability and constructive challenge.
  • Allocate resources across opportunities according to strategic value, probability of success, workload, schedule and risk, escalating capacity constraints and capability gaps as required.
  • Build succession and development plans, strengthen critical competencies and foster knowledge sharing across regional and global Transmission teams.
  • Provide timely performance feedback, support individual development and promote an inclusive, collaborative and high‑performing working environment.
Strategy, Governance and Performance
  • Work with the Regional Business Director to prioritize the opportunity portfolio, define achievable sales objectives and translate market strategy into a deliverable business plan.
  • Own regular sales forecasting, pipeline quality, probability assessment, order‑intake outlook and management reporting, ensuring data accuracy and timely escalation of material changes.
  • Monitor commercial performance against targets, including order intake, margin, cash profile, risk exposure and strategic positioning.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, tender governance, risk management requirements, competition law, anti‑bribery rules and applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Represent Prysmian at customer meetings, industry forums, conferences and senior stakeholder engagements, acting as a credible ambassador for the Transmission business.
Who are we looking for?

You should ideally have/be:

  • Degree in engineering, business, economics or a related discipline. A postgraduate business or technical qualification is beneficial.
  • Typically, 10+ years of relevant experience in complex project, solution or EPC sales, with substantial exposure to power transmission, offshore energy, submarine cable systems or HVDC infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience leading high‑value, multidisciplinary tenders and negotiations involving technical, installation, commercial, contractual and financial complexity.
  • Proven people‑leadership experience, ideally managing or coordinating teams across Sales, System Engineering and Installation Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of the power transmission value chain and the needs of TSOs, utilities, private developers and infrastructure investors.
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen, including pricing, margin, cash flow, securities, foreign exchange, escalation, contingencies and risk allocation.
  • Ability to engage credibly in senior‑level engineering discussions and to challenge technical and execution assumptions without losing customer or commercial focus.
  • Strong contractual competence, including familiarity with turnkey/EPC structures, major project risk allocation and industry‑standard contracting principles.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the confidence to operate effectively with executive stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Strategic, pragmatic and target‑oriented mindset, with strong judgement and the ability to make decisions in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Fluent business English. Additional APAC languages are advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within APAC and internationally, including visits to customers, project sites, manufacturing facilities and corporate offices.
Key Success Measures
  • Achievement of order‑intake, margin, cash‑profile and strategic pipeline objectives.
  • Quality, competitiveness and execution readiness of submitted offers.
  • Conversion of priority opportunities and strength of customer relationships.
  • Effective management of tender, contractual and execution risks.
  • Performance, engagement and capability development of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Quality of handover and continuity from business development through project execution.
Leadership Profile

The successful candidate will combine strategic market perspective with hands‑on pursuit leadership. They will be able to align customer needs, advanced cable‑system engineering, marine installation capability and commercial objectives into a compelling and executable proposition. They will lead with integrity, clarity and accountability, while enabling specialists to contribute at their best.
