A community service organization in Singapore is seeking compassionate individuals for a role in child care at its therapeutic home. The position involves working with boys aged 7 to 12, providing a safe environment and supporting their mental and physical wellbeing. Candidates must be capable of teamwork and responding sensitively to children's needs. Rotating shifts and weekend work are required. This role offers an attractive remuneration package, including both fixed and variable bonuses.

Epworth HomeSweetHome was started in 2013 in partnership with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) as the first Therapeutic Group Home in Singapore. The Home provides stay-in treatment for children between the ages of 7 to 12 years old who have experienced abuse. We use the Trauma System Therapy (TST) treatment model to help children with complex trauma and aggressive behaviour.

We believe that with early and appropriate intervention, children can recover and become well-adjusted persons with a healthy mental well-being. Apart from treatment within the Home, we also work with other helping professionals so that all the needs of these children could be met. Together with MSF, we work towards safe placements for these children, when they are ready to be discharged from the Home and well enough to return to the community.

Job Description

• Work with others in a team to provide an environment of safety for children with difficult behaviours in a children’s home.
• Able to respond calmly to children when they exhibit difficult behaviours.
• Look after the needs of children (physical & mental wellbeing of children in care).
• Creating a safe and positive living environment, setting rules for children’s behaviour & providing one to one teaching/coaching on daily living skills.
• Check on each resident’s needs and progress.
• Help children form secure attachment bonds with appropriate adults.
• Provide close supervision to children.
• Work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

• Must be able to work rotating shifts (day & night), on weekends and public holidays
• Able to work in an energetic environment with children
• Experience working with children is an advantage
• Persistent and active learner
• Need to have understanding and a non-judging attitude

Candidates with no experence are welcome to apply, and those with relevant experience will be considered for senior role.
