Job summary

Meinhardt (Singapore) Pte Ltd invites a seasoned civil/structural professional to lead on-site supervision as Resident Engineer for a major institutional development at Tengah.

You will manage a team, coordinate contractors, ensure compliance with drawings, permits, and safety, and start by March 2027. The contract is for 3-4 years, with emphasis on deep basement techniques and proximity to MRT structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/degree in Civil or Structural Engineering acceptable for PE registration.
• Minimum 15 years' post-graduate experience supervising building projects.
• Conversant with Building Contract Act and Regulations; manage contracts and site records.
• Extensive experience in deep basement construction, top-down methods, bored piles and diaphragm walls.
• Experience near MRT structures or sensitive utilities is advantageous.
• Able to start by Mar 2027.

Responsibilities

• Overall supervision of RTO team and daily C&S inspections.

Job Description

• To be overall in charge, manage and control a team of resident technical offices or RTO in their daily C&S inspection and need to manage the approval form for inspection and overtime works and claims.
• To ensure that the Contractor co-ordinates the work of various contractors.
• To agree to detailed programmes of work-time chart and representation on site plans.
• To check that all necessary drawings and instructions have been given to contractors and authorization obtained, in accordance with the agreed programme.
• To check that materials are ordered in good time and permits obtained.
• Check that all constructions works are carried out in a safe manner, and that the site is kept secure.
• To watch for faulty workmanship and materials incorporated in the works and to issue instructions for rectification.
• To check line and level and layout of structure during erection and that intentions of “contract” drawings are adhered to.
• To check structural slab, beam and column sizes and reinforcements placed and that intent of design details are followed.

Job Requirements

Recognized degree in Civil/Structural Engineering acceptable for registration with the PE Board, Singapore. Registered PEs will be preferred.

• SRE must have at least 15 years’ post-graduate experience in supervising building projects. Applicants with both design and supervision experience as Resident Engineer will be favourably considered.
• Fully conversant with Building contract Act and Regulations. Able to administer contracts professionally, maintain site records and contract documents systematically to meet reporting requirements under Building Control Act.
• Extensive experience in the supervision of deep basement construction, preferably with top-down construction, bored pile systems, secant bored pile wall, diaphragm wall, precast concrete and structural steel construction.
• Experience with projects located adjacent to existing MRT structures or sensitive structures such as underground water pipe, canals, etc will be advantageous.
