Job summary

Nanyang Technological University Singapore’s Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) seeks a laboratory operations lead to drive the setup and ongoing readiness of a new high-tech lab. You will oversee resources, SOPs, and procurement, while supporting research programs and grants.

You will collaborate with institutional teams, manage safety regimes, and coordinate with external partners to ensure smooth operations and timely milestones.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant discipline with 8 years postdoctoral or research experience in a laboratory setting.
• Experience in lab setup, operations, resource planning, and implementation of SOPs and systems.
• Experience in procurement planning, vendor coordination, and working with finance/procurement processes.
• Understanding of lab safety practices, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordination and communication skills with faculty, researchers, and support units.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive operational improvements independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead the setup, commissioning, and operational readiness of the new lab at IDMxS Level 7.
• Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations to ensure effective utilization of resources (equipment, chemicals, gases, and consumables).
• Establish and maintain laboratory-level management systems (e.g., inventory tracking, SOP frameworks).
• Identify opportunities to enhance laboratory workflows and implement improvements in coordination with relevant institutional teams.
• Provide operational and coordination support to Prof. Bazan’s research programs, including tracking project timelines and resource planning.
• Support grant-related activities at the laboratory level, including budget tracking and reporting.
• Contribute to preparation of research proposals and progress reports.
• Strategize and oversee procurement requirements and vendor engagements for major equipment purchases.
• Facilitate efficient procurement workflows and ensure compliance with institutional processes.
• Coordinate safety training and onboarding, and mentor lab staff to uphold safety standards.
• Coordinate access, visits, and collaborations with internal and external partners.
