About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Developer / Technical Lead to drive the design, development and implementation of enterprise-scale AML/KYC applications and banking process automation solutions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in solution architecture, technical design and end-to-end delivery of complex Python-based applications. You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects and engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure and highly available systems supporting banking operations and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical requirement gathering, solution design, system architecture and implementation for complex banking applications.
• Drive the development of Python-based full-stack applications using Django and REST API frameworks.
• Design and implement scalable backend services and frontend applications using React, JavaScript and CSS/SCSS.
• Evaluate existing systems, conduct impact assessments and recommend optimal technical solutions.
• Lead integration design and implementation involving APIs, MQ, microservices and high-volume batch processing.
• Oversee database design, SQL development and query optimisation using MS SQL and Oracle.
• Ensure application architecture aligns with enterprise technology standards and solution architecture roadmaps.
• Drive engineering quality through code reviews, unit testing, integration testing and test-driven development.
• Lead CI/CD implementation, release management, deployment orchestration and environment management.
• Ensure adherence to change management, engineering review and software development methodologies.
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage technical delivery, system enhancements and production support.
• Mentor developers, provide technical guidance and promote engineering best practices.

Requirements & Technical Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8–10 years of hands-on software development experience, preferably in enterprise or banking environments.
• Strong expertise in Python development, particularly Django and REST API frameworks.
• Strong frontend development experience with React, JavaScript, CSS and SCSS.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-scale, highly available applications.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and Shell Scripting.
• Extensive experience with MS SQL and/or Oracle database design, SQL development and performance optimisation.
• Strong experience in solution architecture, system design and technical leadership.
• Experience designing and implementing integrations using MQ, microservices and high-volume batch processing.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, UML, object modelling and software architecture principles.
• Extensive experience in unit testing, integration testing and test-driven development for Python and JavaScript applications.
• Hands-on experience with Git, source control and software development tools.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to lead technical delivery and drive development of complex software components.

Good to Have

• Experience in banking, financial services or regulatory technology projects.
• Knowledge of AML/KYC processes, transaction monitoring and sanctions screening.
• Exposure to AML/KYC platforms such as NICE Actimize, SAS AML, Verafin or similar RegTech solutions.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, risk management and financial crime prevention systems.
• Experience with enterprise workflow automation and process re-engineering.
• Strong knowledge of deployment automation, release orchestration and environment management.
