Job summary

National University Polyclinics is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform technical duties under the supervision of pharmacists, ensuring safe, efficient and timely distribution of drugs within AH.

You will assist the pharmacist in-charge to supervise pharmacy support staff, coordinate activities to ensure smooth workflow, dispense medicines according to department policies, and contribute to inventory control, medication safety and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Possess CPTC or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or foreign Pharmacy degree (not recognized by Singapore Pharmacy Council).
• Able to work independently to achieve department goals.
• Effective communication with patients and colleagues.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Able to prioritize and organize work tasks.
• Willingness to work on weekends/public holidays occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform simple dispensing of medication in accordance with legal requirements and service standards.
• Process medication orders.
• Picking, packing and labeling of medicines per SOP.
• Carry out medication reconciliation steps: counting, sorting and typing of prescriptions.
• Perform brief reviews/interventions for selected drug groups.
• Perform billing functions.
• Provide professional and courteous service to patients/customers.
• Manage inventory and expiry dates per procedures.
• Contribute to quality improvement projects.

Job description

Assist the pharmacist in-charge to provide supervision to pharmacy support staff and to coordinate activities within a section to ensure smooth workflow and continuous improvement.

Dispense medicines to the patients according to department policies and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform simple dispensing of medication in accordance with legal requirements and service standards
• Processing medication orders
• Picking, packing and labelling of medicines in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Perform the following medication reconciliation steps: counting, sorting and typing of prescriptions
• Performs simple review and interventions for selected drug groups
• Perform billing functions

Provision of quality customer service

• Provide professional and courteous service to all patients/customers

Inventory and Expiry Date Management

• Ensure stocks are stocked up properly and tidily according to FEST-in-First-Out requirement and stipulate storage conditions
• Carry out cycle counts and stock accurately and accordingly to the Standard Operating Procedures

Comply with medication safety practices in the pharmacy

Involve in quality improvement projects when required

Requirements

• Possess Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC) OR Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science OR foreign Pharmacy degree (not recognized by Singapore Pharmacy Council)
• Have initiative and able to work independently to achieve goals of the department
• Able to communicate effectively
• Able to function effectively as member of a team
• Able to prioritize and organize work well
• Flexibility to work on weekends/ public holidays occasionally

This is a 2-year contract position. Renewal of the contract will be subject to satisfactory performance and vacancy availability.
