Senior Optical Process Engineer - High-Volume Transceivers

Job summary

Lumilens is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to own and develop manufacturing processes for 800G and 1.6T optical transceivers. You’ll work with contract manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and internal teams to bring new products to high‑volume production while driving continuous improvement.

The role requires hands‑on engineering, process qualification, and a proactive approach to scale‑up, yield improvement, and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field plus 7+ years in high‑volume optical transceiver or laser manufacturing.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• In‑depth technical knowledge in manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and methods for optical assemblies.
• Expert in one or more optical transceiver assembly processes (die attach, wire bond, active alignment, general assembly).
• Expertise in data analysis, SPC, and report generation.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems and QA standards.
• Data query and analysis skills using statistical tools.
• Expertise in optics FA processes and tools.
• Ability to work in a geographically diverse cross‑functional team.
• Excellent English communication, both verbal and written; willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, prove out, and deploy manufacturing processes across the transceiver assembly flow.
• Own manufacturing process documentation and manage changes on the production line.
• Maintain end‑to‑end manufacturing ownership and change control under QMS requirements.
• Lead or support equipment selection and introduce new equipment with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with design engineering and CM teams to ensure DFM guidelines are met.
• Coordinate qualification, reliability, and burn‑in testing for new products and changes.
• Analyze process and yield data to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Prepare process reports by collecting and summarizing information and trends.
• Automate manufacturing processes where possible to support scale‑up and high‑volume production.
