Job summary

The Singapore maritime company is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead vessel design and own critical engineering decisions.

You will manage a design team of engineers, naval architects and drafters, set priorities, and ensure designs meet specifications, class rules, and project timelines. This role offers genuine ownership of design outcomes and commercial influence while maintaining technical depth.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience as a senior design engineer or naval architect, including several years leading a design team.
• Background in shipbuilding and a degree in naval architecture or mechanical/marine engineering.
• Strong knowledge of class and flag requirements, and ability to negotiate contract questions with clients.
• Calm, steady leader who builds trust with engineers, yard teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design team of engineers, naval architects and drafters, setting priorities and ensuring timely delivery.
• Be the technical voice with class, regulators, suppliers and clients, negotiating design issues when they affect cost.
• Own key engineering decisions from equipment selection to stability and trials, driving improvements in team processes.
