Job summary

Cloud Kinetics is seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to lead the migration of on-premises VMware/Hyper-V/KVM-based MySQL infrastructure to AWS, including EC2 and managed DB services. You will oversee architecture, assessment, and execution of multi-terabyte migrations with a focus on near-zero downtime.

The ideal candidate has deep MySQL performance tuning, AWS networking/storage expertise, and hands-on experience with hybrid cloud replication and migration tools such as

Qualifications

• Must have strong MySQL DBA experience and performance tuning skills.
• Experience migrating on-premises MySQL to AWS with near-zero downtime preferred.
• Familiarity with AWS DMS and AWS MGN for cutovers and validation.

Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end migration strategies from on-prem to AWS EC2 and managed DB services.
• Assess workloads, compute, memory, and I/O to define target AWS architectures.
• Configure secure connectivity (direct connect or VPN) between on-prem and AWS VPCs.
• Execute cutovers using hybrid replication methods (DMS/MGN).
• Create and follow cutover playbooks with rollback procedures.
• Design and implement robust security and backup strategies for the migrated environment.
• Monitor post-migration performance and resolve any bottlenecks.
