Job summary

Cloud Kinetics seeks an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) specialized in migrating on-premises virtual machines to AWS. You will lead architecture, assessment, and execution of migrations for MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle across VMware/Hyper-V/KVM into AWS EC2 and managed DB ecosystems.

The ideal candidate brings deep database engine expertise, AWS networking/storage know-how, and migration tooling (DMS, MGN) to deliver near-zero downtime migrations and robust DR strategies.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of dedicated DBA experience with MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL/OracleDBA & RDS.
• Proven track record migrating on-prem workloads to AWS EC2 and storage.
• Deep expertise in AWS migrations and related tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect and execute end-to-end migration strategies to move multi-terabyte on-prem databases to AWS with near-zero downtime.
• Assess on-premises workloads to define optimal AWS target architectures.
• Configure hybrid connectivity and secure replication between on‑prem and AWS.
• Execute cutovers using DMS or MGN with rollback plans.
• Right-size EC2 instances and provision EBS storage for target IOPS/throughput.
• Design secure AWS network topologies (VPCs, subnets, SGs, IAM).
• Implement high availability and DR using Multi-AZ and backups.
• Monitor performance, perform post-migration tuning and validation.

We are seeking an experienced DatabaseAdministrator (DBA) with specialized expertise in migrating on-premises VirtualMachines to Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, you will lead thearchitecture, assessment, and execution of migrating our on-premisesvirtualized MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle infrastructure (VMware/Hyper-V/KVM)to high-performance AWS cloud environments (Amazon EC2 IaaS and AWS Managed DBecosystems).

The ideal candidate possesses deepexpertise in MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle DB, AWS networking and storage,hybrid cloud replication, and modern cloud migration tools like AWS ApplicationMigration Service (AWS MGN) and AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS).

Key Responsibilities

On-Premises to AWS Migration Planning &Execution

• Architect and execute end-to-end migration strategies to movemulti-terabyte on-premises MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle databases to AWSwith near-zero downtime.
• Assess existing on-premises virtual server workloads, computedemands, memory footprints, and disk I/O to define optimal AWS targetarchitectures.
• Configure hybrid connectivity workflows over AWS Direct Connector IPsec VPNs for secure, low-latency data replication between on-premisesdata centers and AWS VPCs.
• Execute cutovers using hybrid replication techniques (e.g., AWSDatabase Migration Service (DMS), or AWS Application Migration Service /AWS MGN).
• Establish comprehensive cutover playbooks, contingency plans,and rollback procedures to eliminate risk during production maintenancewindows.
• Right-size AWS compute instances (e.g., Amazon EC2memory-optimized instance families based on on-premises NUMA and CPUbaseline data.
• Provision and tune AWS storage options specifically AmazonElastic Block Store (EBS) volume types to achieve target IOPS andthroughput requirements.
• Design and implement secure Network Topologies within AWS VPCs,including public/private subnet routing, Security Groups, Network ACLs,and AWS IAM policies.

High Availability, Disaster Recovery &Security

• Design high-availability topologies in AWS utilizing Multi-AZdeployments, MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle Cluster, Group Replication
• Implement robust cloud backup and disaster recovery strategiesusing AWS Backup, EBS Snapshot integration
• Enforce security best practices, including transit encryption(TLS/SSL), storage encryption at rest (AWS KMS / TDE), and least-privilegeIAM control.

Performance Tuning & Post-MigrationValidation

• Establish baseline benchmarking, workload validation, andperformance tests before and after cutover to ensure target AWSperformance meets or exceeds on-premises levels.
• Monitor resource utilization, latency, buffer pool efficiency,and query execution using Amazon CloudWatch, Performance Schema, and SlowQuery Logs.
• Resolve post-migration bottlenecks, query regressions
