Job summary

KLA invites engineers to join the Surfscan division and help advance semiconductor metrology equipment and wafer inspection systems. In this Mechanical Design role, you will own the mechanical design from concept to detailed drawings, perform FEAs, verify designs, and transfer to manufacturing.

Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals; design principles and materials selection.
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Able to perform first-order estimations using mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design of precision components and subsystems for semiconductor metrology equipment.
• Own and drive the mechanical design process from requirements to subsystem specifications.
• Conduct feasibility studies using first principles or experiments.
• Propose and complete designs from concept to detailed drawings.
• Perform FEAs including structural, thermal and vibration analyses.
• Lead design reviews with cross-functional teams to obtain peer assessment.
• Plan and execute design verification/validation including fit/form tests in cleanroom.
• Perform risk analysis, develop test plans, and execute verification testing.
• Manage suppliers to ensure design requirements and parts quality.
• Transfer manufacturing processes and qualification.
• Collaborate across electrical, software, systems, and manufacturing teams.
• Produce and release design documentation; provide training for manufacturing.
• Maintain and troubleshoot tools; support product ramp-up.
