Job summary

Singapore Management University seeks a leadership professional to own and govern SMU's Search Everywhere strategy, spanning SEO, AEO, GEO, and AI discovery surfaces. You will lead the technical, content, and agency activities, ensuring optimal crawlability, structured data, and platform search performance across SMU's digital estate.

The role requires deep traditional SEO expertise, 5+ years in the field, and strong collaboration with content teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
Professional certifications in SEO, digital analytics, or content strategy are advantageous.
Traditional SEO (Minimum 5 years).
Deep expertise in traditional SEO — keyword strategy, on-page optimisation, technical site health, link signals, E-E-A-T principles, and Google algorithm update cycles.
Experience developing and executing search strategy at institutional or enterprise level with measurable outcomes.
Hands-on familiarity with emergent AI discovery surfaces (AEO/GEO) and how to influence representation through content structure.

Responsibilities

Develop and own SMU's Search Everywhere strategy across SEO, AEO, GEO, and AI discovery surfaces.
Lead technical and strategic SEO to optimise crawlability, indexation, site health and page experience.
Manage SMU's SEO agency: set agenda, review KPIs, ensure feasible recommendations, and enforce editorial standards.
Advise content and social teams on structuring content for maximum discoverability and editorial planning.
Own search performance reporting and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
Conduct quarterly search audits covering technical SEO health, content gaps, and AI visibility.
