Job summary

QUESS ENGINEERING PTE. LTD. seeks an experienced Software Engineer with strong J2EE expertise to design, develop, and support enterprise applications.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable software following SDLC standards and best practices. The role requires hands-on development, architectural input, and mentoring of junior engineers, with a focus on high-quality code, testing, and production support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise-level applications.
• Strong expertise in Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE).
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and Microservices architecture.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Experience with application servers such as WebLogic, JBoss, WebSphere, or Apache Tomcat.
• Proficiency with Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD tools.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
• Experience in unit testing, debugging, application performance tuning, and production support.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable designs.
• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using J2EE technologies.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to solution architecture.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable code with secure coding practices.
• Conduct impact analysis and feasibility assessments for new initiatives.
• Develop and execute unit tests and support integration and UAT.
• Investigate defects and performance issues; perform root-cause analysis.
• Perform code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Collaborate with BAs, Solution Architects, QA and stakeholders to refine requirements.
• Prepare and maintain design specs, deployment guides, and runbooks.
• Mentor junior developers and promote best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, security.
• Ensure compliance with SDLC and security policies.
