Job summary

NETS Group in Singapore seeks an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems for high-volume transaction processing and international payment gateway integrations. You will build secure, high-performance APIs, drive architecture with microservices and event-driven patterns, and collaborate with DevOps to support CI/CD and deployment across environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
6–9 years of Java backend development experience.
Proficiency in Java 8+ (preferably Java 21) and Spring Boot.
Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and REST APIs.
Hands-on experience with messaging systems (Solace).
Strong MySQL skills: tuning, indexing, SQL optimization.
Experience with unit testing (JUnit/Mockito) and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems for high-volume processing.
Develop secure, high-performance APIs for internal and external integrations.
Contribute to architecture design for scalable, resilient systems.
Implement event-driven processing and enterprise messaging patterns.
Optimize performance and conduct load testing to identify bottlenecks.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
Collaborate with DevOps to support CI/CD pipelines and deployments.
