Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to design, build and operate scalable Java services and integrations.

You will translate business needs into technical plans, guide juniors, and deliver end-to-end features with a focus on security, performance and maintainability.

Experience with AWS, SQL and regulated environments is valued, along with strong communication and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Proven Java experience delivering production-grade back-end services.
• Strong SQL skills with hands-on relational DB work.
• Hands-on AWS knowledge including designing or operating cloud infra.
• Financial services domain exposure or experience in regulated environments.
• Ability to turn ambiguity into clear technical solutions.
• Experience partnering with business users and engineering teams.
• Ability to own priorities and manage competing demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and build secure, high-performing and cost-aware Java services and integrations
• Translate business needs into technical approaches, estimates and delivery plans
• Define technical specifications and guide junior engineers and external developers
• Deliver features end to end, from implementation through deployment and production support
• Collaborate with stakeholders to shape scope, priorities and technical feasibility
• Improve maintainability through testing, monitoring and automation
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation for development and operations
• Communicate progress, risks and trade-offs with the project team
