Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer to own the software development life cycle, from planning and prioritisation through to testing and release, and to build and maintain functional, secure, high-quality Java applications while providing technical leadership to junior developers.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain high-performance, scalable Java backend applications
• Own the SDLC: gather system and user requirements, build Java modules, and test features before release
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design and ship new features
• Write clean, maintainable, efficient code following best practices and industry standards
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and share knowledge
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in a timely, efficient manner
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools and methodologies
• Work with product managers, designers and stakeholders to translate requirements into high-quality solutions

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
• Proven experience as a Senior Java Backend Developer or in a similar role
• Strong proficiency in Java / Java EE and related frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate)
• Experience designing, building and testing microservices and RESTful APIs
• Solid grasp of software development principles, design patterns and best practices
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
