Job summary

Sciente International Pte. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to design, implement, maintain, secure, and optimize Oracle databases supporting production operations. The role requires 24/7 Level 2 support and acts as the SME for database incidents.

Responsibilities include monitoring health, performing backups, applying patches, and ensuring security/compliance across our Oracle environments. Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Engineering required.
• Must have Oracle Database Administration experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL required.
• Knowledge of Oracle architecture, backup & recovery, and performance tuning.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix, filesystem management, and Cron jobs.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call support and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle database software and storage.
• Plan and execute database changes per change management procedures.
• Assess risks and develop rollback plans for production changes.
• Conduct failover, switchover, backups, and disaster recovery tests.
• Identify and apply Oracle patches and service packs.
• Implement backup/recovery strategies and support audits/compliance.
• Maintain database administration documentation and SOPs.

Mandatory Skill-set

Responsibilities

• Monitor database health, availability, performance, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools, and investigate and resolve database alerts, incidents, and performance issues;
• Provide 24/7 Level 2 support and incident response for Oracle databases supporting production operations;
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle database software, tools, and storage structures including tablespaces, objects, and indexes;
• Review, plan, and execute database changes in accordance with IT change management procedures, including application deployments, database releases, and schema migrations;
• Assess risks and develop rollback plans for production database changes;
• Conduct periodic failover, switchover, backup, and disaster recovery tests;
• Identify, test, and implement Oracle patches, updates, and service packs;
• Implement backup and recovery strategies to protect data and support business continuity;
• Support database audits, security reviews, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to security and data retention policies;
• Maintain database administration documentation, SOPs, and operational procedures.
